Automation of oxygen titration in patients with acute respiratory distress at the emergency department. A multicentric international randomised controlled study

چکیده
Introduction Oxygen therapy is commonly administered in critical care and emergency medicine. Its benefits are well known but potential side-effects may be underestimated. Compliance to recommendations remains dependent on staff workload. We developed FreeO2, an innovative device that automatically titrates oxygen flow delivered through nasal cannulas or masks to maintain the patients in the SpO2 target set by the clinician .

Randomised controlled trial of patient controlled analgesia compared with nurse delivered analgesia in an emergency department.
OBJECTIVE To compare effectiveness, safety, and patient satisfaction of patient controlled analgesia (PCA) with titrated, intravenous opioid injections for the management of acute traumatic pain in the emergency department (ED). METHODS The study took place in the ED of a teaching hospital. Patients suffering traumatic injury requiring opioid analgesia, and meeting other inclusion criteria, w...
متن کاملCOMPARISION OF THE EFFICACY OF NEBULIZED L-EPINEPHRINE, SALBUTAMOLAND NORMAL SALINE IN ACUTE BRONCHIOLITIS: A RANDOMIZED CLINICAL TRIAL
ABSTRACT Background: Acute bronchiolitis is the most common form of lower respiratory tract infection in infancy. There are numerous contradictory reports regarding the efficacy of nebulized bronchodilators in the management of infants with acute bronchiolitis. This study was designed to compare the efficacy of nebulized epinephrine with salbutamol for treatment of the disease. Methods: In a r...
متن کاملHypersensitivity Reaction and Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome in Pyrethroid Poisoning and Role of Steroid Therapy
Background: Pyrethroids are generally of low toxicity to humans, but in suicidal poisonings which are usually associated with ingestion of high doses, they lead to severe systemic effects. Case Report: A 30-year old woman presented to emergency department with a history of intentional ingestion of about 15 mL of prallethrin around 3 days earlier. She complained of shortness of breath along with...
متن کاملRandomized Controlled Trial of Humidified High-Flow Nasal Oxygen for Acute Respiratory Distress in the Emergency Department: The HOT-ER Study.
BACKGROUND Humidified high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) is a novel method of oxygen delivery with increasing use in emergency departments and intensive care settings despite little evidence showing benefit over standard oxygen delivery methods (standard O2). The aim of this study was to determine whether HFNC compared with standard O2 given to subjects in acute respiratory distress would reduce th...
متن کاملInvestigating the Relationship Between End Tidal Carbon Dioxide and Arterial Carbon Dioxide Pressure in Patients With Respiratory Distress Referred to the Emergency Room of Hazrat Rasool Akram Hospital
Background: Measuring End-Tidal Carbon Dioxide (ETCO-2) can be a non-invasive, fast, and reliable method to predict partial pressure of carbon dioxide (PaCO2) in patients with respiratory distress. This method, which can be a suitable substitute to measure PaCO2, is being used in many emergency rooms and operating rooms in developed countries, but its exact relationship with PaCO2 has not been ...
